Bale revved-up for run-in

Gareth Bale expects a test in every game between now and May – starting with West Ham on Saturday.
Although defeated in last week’s FA Cup quarter-final, the Hammers have been in fine form in the Premier League, climbing off the foot of the table with big wins against Blackpool, Liverpool and Stoke plus key points at Everton and West Brom.
Now they come to the Lane for a 12.45pm kick-off on Saturday and Gareth expects more of the same form.
“I think any game from now until the end of the season will be difficult, and West Ham being near the bottom of the table makes no difference,” said the Welsh wizard.
“They’ve had a good run so it’s going to be a difficult game, and we’ve got to get ourselves ready on the training pitch and ready on the day for a tough encounter.
“But we’ll just do as we normally do – try our best and hopefully come away with the three points.”
Gareth is delighted to be back in action after a six-week lay-off with a back problem.
He’s made substitute appearances in our last two matches against Wolves and AC Milan and is clearly raring to go again.
“I’m more than happy to be back,” said. “I’ve been working hard in training trying to build up my fitness. I’m getting closer and closer, but the main thing now is to get some games and get back to the level I was playing at before.
“I’d had a great year or so and it was therefore a blow to get an injury. But on the other hand, it’s given me time to recharge my batteries and get ready for the rest of the season. So although it wasn’t nice to be injured, I’m trying to use it as a positive.
“Hopefully I can get my place in the team back and help us to finish as high up the table as possible.
“It was a tight run-in last year and I think it may be even tighter this year. The Champions League will make it an extra special run-in but we’re all ready and can’t wait for it.”
