Bad timing for Darren

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Darren Anderton has described the hamstring injury that has hit hard in the most crucial period of the season as a case of 'bad timing'.

Thankfully, the midfielder reported after training on Friday that the problem was 'not too bad' and although he is a big doubt for Monday's Premiership clash against Charlton, he certainly hasn't been ruled out for much longer.

The 30-year-old was in outstanding form as he started all-but two of the first 30 games of the season.

That form earned him an England recall against Sweden in November and he looked a cert to be part of this summer's World Cup squad.

But he felt his hamstring in the 31st game against Newcastle United in January and the problem finally became too much after our win against Leicester City in February and he had to pull out of England's friendly against Holland.

He was back in time for the Worthington Cup Final and was again nursed through to face Chelsea in the FA Cup last Sunday but only managed an hour.

"It felt really, really tight against Chelsea but the problem isn't serious, it's not too bad," said Darren at Spurs Lodge.

"I saw a doctor on Wednesday and he said I'd slightly overdone it but it had settled down.

"I first felt it against Newcastle but it didn't seem too bad. It tightened up after the Leicester game and that meant I missed out on England. It's been a bit frustrating, bad timing more than anything."
