We are delighted to announce that we will participate in the prestigious Vodacom Challenge in South Africa in July.

We are delighted to announce that we will participate in the prestigious Vodacom Challenge in South Africa in July.In doing so, we will be only the second team outside of Africa to take part in the tournament following Manchester United’s involvement last year. Until then, host clubs Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates had only taken on the best of their continent.

This will be the second time in four years we’ve travelled to South Africa to tackle the famous Castle Premiership teams as part of our important pre-season work.

Back in 2003, we met the Pirates first and then the Chiefs in ‘International Club Bid Challenges’ as we did our bit in helping South Africa bid for the World Cup in 2010 – a bid that proved successful.

This time around it’s a three-team tournament and we kick-off against Kaizer Chiefs at the ABSA Stadium in Durban on Saturday July 21 (kick-off 3pm, local time).

We then travel south to Cape Town to face the Pirates at the famous Newlands Stadium on Tuesday July 24th (8pm).

The two South African teams face each other on Thursday July 26th in Port Elizabeth (8pm)_before we take on the winners in the final match at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria, on Saturday July 28 (3pm).

Our latest voyage to South Africa will further links in a country where we’ve enjoyed a huge supporter base since our success of the 1960s and where we were made to feel so welcome in 2003.

We recently announced a long-term charity commitment in the country in partnership with SOS Children’s Villages International, the world's largest orphan and abandoned children charity, to fund a children’s home in Rustenburg. For full details, CLICK HERE
