Back to front
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Gary Doherty says he'll reap the benefit of switching from back to front in pre-season.
The versatile Irish star played in a lone striking role in our friendly win at Stevenage on Sunday and might just be there again against Colchester United on Tuesday night.
Boss Glenn Hoddle has made it clear that he sees Gary as a defender but his ability to adapt to a striking role is more than a useful string to his bow - after all, he made his name after moving up front at Luton Town and is still used as a striker by Ireland.
Big 'Doc' said: "Pre-season is really only about getting your fitness up so whether that's at centre-back or up front I'm happy to play.
"I'll probably get myself fitter playing up front in that lone role. I found it quite hard because you have to make a lot of runs but I enjoyed it.
"I suppose it's nice to have that versatility and if it keeps you in the team, great.
"They are totally different games, opposite ends of the pitch but it's something I've done since I was 12 so I'm used to it now."
Gary is one of few players at the club to have played at Layer Road.
He recalled: "I played there a couple of seasons ago for Luton, I think we won 2-1, might have been 2-2. It's a tight little ground, there'll be a good crowd and I'm sure plenty of our fans will be there. It's great because they make these games feel like home games.
"We're all building up to get full games and that's what it's all about at this stage."
