Back to front

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Simon Davies was delighted to step back into the midfield cauldron against Cardiff City on Tuesday night.

After two matches as emergency right-back, Simon relished linking up again with the likes of Teddy Sheringham and Robbie Keane as we put Saturday's defeat against Middlesbrough behind us to progress in the Worthington Cup.

Simon said: "I was delighted to be back in midfield. It was great to be involved going forward again and I loved it.

"Of course I didn't mind playing right-back. In fact, I thought we did okay at Old Trafford but perhaps you're going to get found out when you play out of position.

"It was difficult for me to get into it against Middlesbrough but it was great to feel more involved against Cardiff.

The Welsh star admitted that the lads were determined to bounce back from the weekend loss that 'hurt us all'.

"I don't think we'd played that well at home but we'd managed to grind the results out. But everything went wrong on Saturday and that hurt us all.

"It was important to bounce back and I thought we did that well. We need to carry it on in the Premiership now."

Meanwhile, Simon said he was chuffed to get a positive response from the travelling Cardiff fans who, after booing every other Spurs name during the line-ups on the PA, gave a huge cheer when his was announced.

"I wasn't sure what reaction I would get to be honest," he added. "It was nice and gives me a boost to know that they appreciate what I'm doing when I play for Wales.

"I thought Cardiff played well and they've got some good players in there.

"They'll do well in the Second Division and they try to play football, which is nice to see. It's normally crash, bang, wallop in that division but they knock it around well."
