Back to business
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
It's back to business for Martin Jol following his appointment as Head Coach with the challenge of a Carling Cup 4th round tie at Burnley this evening.
Martin, Frank Arnesen and Daniel Levy all faced a swarm of cameras and tape recorders on Monday night after the announcement was made that the Dutchman was to replace Jacques Santini.
Our trip to Turf Moor, perhaps understandably, was not top of the agenda among the gathered media throng, but we grabbed a word with our new Head Coach ahead of his conference to get his thoughts on the challenge facing the team in our third Carling Cup away match of the season.
It quickly became clear that the Carling Cup is a big priority for the 48-year-old, firstly to progress to the next round and then to restore confidence for the Premiership tests ahead.
"I had a good talk this morning with the players, we will go there in the morning and have another team meeting before maybe having a sleep in the afternoon before the game," explained the now former first assistant.
"For us it is the most important game of the season as I have a feeling we have to do something at this moment to get the confidence back. For the club it is very important that we achieve something in the Carling Cup.
"We have seen video tapes and we will talk about it more tomorrow. We know about their players and Burnley will not be an easy team to beat. It won't be easy but with our players we should be confident."
Martin is already aware that, in English cup ties, passion is perhaps more crucial than any tactical plan.
"Tactics are important but, if you saw our game on Saturday, it was not about tactics - it was about mentality. The supporters will have felt better at the end after feeling awful, but I was the one feeling the most embarrassed.
"In the second half I was a bit happier because I saw them fighting and I hope I will see that against Burnley."
