Paul Robinson believes the victory over Portmouth sets us up nicely for a big week ahead.A first away win of the season in the Premier League was secured at Fratton Park courtesy of Dimitar Berbatov's second half goal. The team now face the challenge of a Carling Cup quarter-final away at Manchester City followed by a visit to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
"It was a very big win for us against a side that have been doing well," reflected Robbo. "We knew it would be a tough game, but we not only got the win, we played well in getting it.
"Whichever side nicked it would say they deserved the three points and a draw may have been a fair result, but look at the chances we had. We had more and the better chances, so maybe we did deserve to nick it.
"We are moving up the table so that is the right direction. We're looking at the teams we can catch rather than the teams beneath us now. Hopefully we can widen the gap and climb the table.
"We've got a couple of big games this week followed by two games at home over the Christmas period and hopefully we can push on in all competitions," added the goalkeeper, who was happy that the team registered a third Premier League clean sheet of the season.
"It is very nice, we have been exposed a little bit this season, but we have done a lot of work on the training ground and in the last few matches it has been coming. You saw a solid defensive display from the whole team, not just from the back four.
"Daws was unfortunately out of the side so Didier came in at centre half and did very well for us again, as did Younes."
