Darren Shan, best-selling writer of horror for kids and lifelong Spurs supporter, met 150 young literature- loving fans on Tuesday March 24 as part of a project called Tottenham Til I Die.

This very special event took place at White Hart Lane's state-of-the-art Spurs Learning Zone with local schoolchildren invited by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.

It was a culmination of activities run by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation for the Tottenham Til I Die book - including visits to local schools, work with senior citizens, and direct work with fans at home matches.

150 lucky Haringey students were invited to the club to hear Darren read from his latest book and talk about his experiences of following Spurs.

Darren was also joined by the winner of a competition run on this website for a money-cannot-buy prize. Two young fans won the chance to join Darren Shan on an exclusive tour of White Hart Lane, in an access-all-areas visit.

"As a lifelong Spurs fan and season ticket holder, it was a great thrill when Spurs asked me to get involved with the Tottenham 'Til I Die book. As a boy I often dreamt of playing for Spurs. I had to give up on that dream a long time ago, but to be able to be a small part of the club's illustrious history, albeit in a very different way than I imagined back then... well, it's like Christmas come early this year!!! Come On You Spurs!!!!!"
- Darren Shan

The Tottenham Til I Die project is based on a concept that has proven very successful at other football clubs, designed to capture the personal stories and club-related memories from a wide range of the club's die-hard supporters.

Funding for the project has been provided by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, the National Literacy Trust, the Department for Children, Schools and Families, and the Football Foundation.

As well as producing an entertaining read, the publication of this book will give a number of benefits to the football club and the community it serves.

· 600 free copies of Tottenham ‘Til I Die will be distributed to local schools, libraries and community groups via the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation - strengthening the club's links to the community and encouraging a new generation of Spurs fans.

· Tottenham Til I Die will help provide revenue to be used on further community-based schemes.

· It will present a picture of the ever-changing history of being a football supporter through the eyes of a number of generations, encouraging a sense of belonging and showing what it means to be a Spurs fan.

· It will be provide a positive representation of supporter tradition, values and identities.

Fans of all ages are invited to contribute. Those who do not make the published book can have their stories posted on this website.

And it is not too late for fans to contribute stories for the fans book. Visit for more info...

Tottenham Til I Die will be available via all Tottenham Hotspur retail channels later this year.
