Aston Villa vs Spurs - Andre's preview

19 October 2013|Tottenham Hotspur

Andre Villas-Boas says the team is ready to respond to defeat last time out against West Ham when we return to action at Villa on Sunday.

The players are determined to bounce back from that 3-0 home loss, our first reverse at home this season and only the second of the campaign in all competitions.

“West Ham was a pity for us,” said Andre. “We had the opportunity to be first, that’s why everybody felt disappointed.

“I think it shows how the league is this season, so tight and unpredictable, anything can happen in a week and change dramatically, so we understand that we needed to do better.

“We have already got together with the team to go through the mistakes and we want to give a good response at Villa.”

Paul Lambert’s men are unbeaten in three Premier League matches, including a 3-2 win against City last time out at Villa Park.

In-between, we produced a fine display to win 4-0 against Villa in the Capital One Cup.

“We have been successful recently over there but it doesn’t mean that you will be again, football changes very quickly,” added Andre.

“It’s always difficult to play against Villa, a great, great stadium with lots of pressure.

“We are aware of their strengths and hopefully the team can respond in the right manner.”
