Armstrong's Valley parade

English Barclays Premiership

Chris Armstrong is set to return to action on Wednesday night after his latest injury setback.

The striker looked on his way back from the niggling groin problem that has affected him since pre-season when suffered a strain, forcing him out of any possible first-team recall and last Wednesday’s reserve clash against Watford.

But he has now been pencilled in to play against Charlton in the FA Premier Reserve League encounter at The Valley.

Reserve team boss Chris Hughton revealed: “Chris is in a position where he might return, so that will be a big bonus for us.

“At a time where we thought he was making good progress and coming through he had a bit of a setback, which put him back a couple of weeks.

“But we trained on Monday and he looked very sharp and we hope to keep that going through to Wednesday.”

Hughton also hinted that first-team squad members Alton Thelwell, Matthew Etherington, Ledley King, Willem Korsten and Jose Dominguez were all expect to turn out.
