Andy's Stat Pack

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Club Historian Andy Porter has delved into his mass of stats to deliver the facts and figures resulting from our 5-1 win over the Saints on Saturday...

JERMAIN DEFOE'S opening goal, in the eighth minute, was our quickest in any league or cup game so far this season, by some distance.

Prior to Southampton, Robbie Keane had scored our fastest goal of the season, in the 31st minute at Burnley on November 9. Indeed, we had only scored a single goal during the first 30 minutes play since the end of February - spanning 33 matches, the final 12 games of last season plus 21 this season prior to this game.

That was also by Defoe, the 18th minute winner against Blackburn at White Hart Lane on May 8. Robbie Keane and Michael Brown both scored during the opening half an hour against Leicester on February 22 (as did Defoe).

It was our first five goal haul in the Premiership since the 5-2 victory over Wolves on December 6, 2003 and our sixth in all. The other four comprise of the 7-2 scoreline over Southampton on March 11, 2000; 6-2 against Wimbledon at Selhurst Park on May 2, 1998; 5-0 v Oldham on September 18, 1993; and 5-1 v Norwich on April 9, 1993.

We now look to equal our best run of consecutive wins in the Premiership of five set in 1993:

Jan 30 Crystal Palace away won 3-1
Feb 7 Southampton home won 4-2
Feb 10 Everton away won 2-1
Feb 20 Leeds home won 4-0
Feb 27 QPR home won 3-2

The club record, and one of the best ever in the Football/Premier League, stands at 13 consecutive wins between April 25 and October 1, 1960!
