Andros primed for return to Loftus Road

Andros Townsend can't wait for his first match back at QPR on Saturday - and he's fully-focused on taking maximum points from what he describes as a 'great occasion'.

The flying winger made quite an impression in a loan spell at Loftus Road in the 2012-13 campaign, scoring twice in 12 appearances and shining despite Rangers’ relegation from the Premier League.

The West London side bounced straight back in 2013-14 and we now return to Loftus Road for the first time since a goalless draw in January, 2013.

“I had a great time at QPR and it will be great to see the players and the fans again and of course Chris Ramsey, who I worked with in the development squad here," said Andros.

“In many ways it’s a great occasion for me but first and foremost we've got to go and get the three points.

“At the time of my loan, people were looking to see if I could handle myself in the Premier League, I showed I could and I feel I’ve gone from strength to strength.”

Andros scored a fine individual goal in Wednesday night’s 3-2 win against Swansea - his sixth of the season but first from open play after hitting five out of five from the penalty spot in all competitions.

He’s now made 30 appearances in all competitions including 21 starts. “Hopefully I’ll continue scoring goals, continue making contributions like I did against Swansea and stay in the team, that’s all I’m aiming to do for the rest of the season,” he added.

As for that win against the Swans, Andros reflected: “We had a big disappointment on Sunday and before that we hadn’t won in four after the North London derby so it was important to get back to winning ways. It was a bit edgy at the end but it was three points and that’s all that matters.”
