Andros prepared for Cup quest

Thu 18 September 2014, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

It’s a battle on four fronts for us this season – and Andros Townsend would love nothing more than to lift a trophy at the end of it all.

We begin our latest Capital One Cup venture on Wednesday night by playing host to early Championship pace-setters Nottingham Forest, with our Premier League and Europa League campaigns already well and truly underway.

We also enter the FA Cup in January.

For Andros, who has been involved on both the domestic and European stages so far this term, the desire to win a first piece of silverware since 2008 is as strong as ever.

And with the players at Mauricio Pochettino’s disposal, the winger is determined to see us rediscover our historic penchant for knockout football in a bid to reward our supporters with a coveted trophy.

“We’re making no secret about the fact we want to win something and I think the Capital One Cup is a perfect opportunity for us to go far,” said the 23-year-old England international.

“Of course, the last time we won something was the League Cup back in 2008.

“But the manager here is building a good squad and we have strength in depth so I’m sure we have the capability in our squad to challenge not only in the Premier League but also in the Capital One Cup, the FA Cup and the Europa League.”
