Andros keen to make a big impression

Andros Townsend is targeting a “consistent” 2015-16 campaign.
The 23-year-old ended last term with six goals and 35 appearances to his name and was the only player to score in all four senior competitions for us.
He’s also been busy on the international stage with England, starting for Roy Hodgson’s men in last week’s 3-2 win over Slovenia in Euro 2016 qualifying having featured off the bench in the Three Lions’ friendly stalemate with Republic of Ireland earlier this month as well.
Reflecting on the last year, the winger admitted certain spells have been better than others, but he remains confident that he can use his experiences in 2014-15 to his and the team’s advantage going forward as we look to compete at home and abroad.
“For me, it’s been up and down over the last season,” said Andros. “On one hand, I scored six goals, scored in the Premier League against Chelsea and played in the Capital One Cup Final, but there have also been the lows of having a few niggling injuries and not playing as much as I would have liked.
“Of course, everyone wants to play and I’ve had a couple of runs in the team where I’ve played six or seven games on the trot and then had runs where I’ve not been involved so much.
“But with all that in mind, there have been plenty of positives and I’ll take those into the new season.
“In 2015-16 it’s all about consistency and I’ll be trying my hardest in pre-season to get myself as fit as possible so I can sustain a place in the team and make a real impression.”
