Andre's praise for Caulker

Andre Villas-Boas paid tribute to Steven Caulker after the young defender made a goalscoring full debut for England in Sweden on Wednesday night.

At 20 years, 321 days, Steven became the club's third-youngest full England cap and when he converted Steven Gerrard's free-kick, he took Jermain Defoe's record of the youngest Spurs player to score for the Three Lions.

That goal put Roy Hodgson's men 2-1 up at the Friends Arena and Steven was eventually substituted in the 74th minute with the scoreline the same.

It soon changed though as Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored in the 78th, 82nd and 91st minutes to complete an incredible four-goal show and a 4-2 win for Sweden.

Steven has started our last six matches in the Premier League. "It’s a big achievement for Steven," said Andre. "He’s taking everything on board, he’s very calm and it was great to see him out there.

"He’s made a great breakthrough in coming into the side after his loan at Swansea (last season) and now England, at such a young age, that is massive for him.

"I think the country sees him as having the potential to be one of the best and hopefully that doesn’t put too much pressure on him as he continues to develop his game.

"He faces tough competition but he was patient, waited for his opportunity and that came in the game against Lazio. He's done extremely well for us so far."
