Andre ready for Reds
Andre Villas-Boas is preparing for a 'totally different proposition' from Liverpool at the Lane tonight after taking on West Ham on Sunday.
A double from Jermain Defoe and goal from Gareth Bale secured a 3-1 win against the Hammers, who looked to get the ball forward quickly to target man Andy Carroll with midfielders, particularly Kevin Nolan, playing off him.
Liverpool, meanwhile, will look to play their passing game from the back. "Brendan Rodgers is trying to stick to his philosophy at Liverpool, a short passing game, quick, high-intensity and they are difficult opponents," said Andre.
"They have great individual strength, experienced players and are eight games unbeaten."
Andre admitted Sunday's win and excellent display against the Hammers was important for the squad. "We went through a difficult time with three defeats in the league and wanted to get back to winning ways," he said.
"We approached West Ham as a must-win game and got the win we deserved."
Andre was particularly pleased for Clint Dempsey, who told us his frustrations after the goalless draw at Lazio but was back to his best against West Ham - striking the woodwork and involved in two goals, including a fantastic assist for Gareth.
"It was important for him, particularly at home," said Andre. "He was looking for that type of game.
"He’s done great in a couple of games but wanted a solid, individual performance over 90 minutes. We saw him at his best level against West Ham with all of his technical resource and giving everything for the team."
