Andre on Norwich
Andre Villas-Boas feels the players will take inspiration from two factors going into tonight’s Premier League clash at Norwich City.
First, there is a determination from the squad to bounce back from Sunday’s loss at Leeds United in the fourth round of the FA Cup and secondly, a need to put right recent results against the Canaries.
Norwich beat us at the Lane last season, picked up a draw in September and then came from behind to beat us late in the Capital One Cup at Carrow Road in October.
“We wanted to continue in the FA Cup and it’s a pity, we had high expectations and we’re disappointed to be out,” said Andre.
“Norwich have also had some good results against us recently and I think this can inspire us. It’s something we’re aware of and the players will react to it.”
Chris Hughton’s men were also stung in the FA Cup – this time a shock result as Conference side Luton Town secured a famous win at Carrow Road on Saturday.
“That result will affect them in the same way as us, perhaps even more because of the surprise, the shock it was to everyone,” added Andre. “I think both teams will play with anger, and we have to control that. It’s a good opportunity for us to continue our good run in the Premier League."
We travel to Norfolk looking to extend a fine run of just one defeat in 11 in the Premier League.
“It’s the time of the season when there is always two Premier League games separated by a short space of time and when you are able to get positives results, you are able to put yourself in a good position," said Andre.
“The lads have proved they are able to do it in these midweek fixtures and hopefully this will be another example."
