Andre on Maribor draw
Andre Villas-Boas described our group in the Europa League as ‘completely alive’ after Thursday night’s draw against NK Maribor.
Gylfi Sigurdsson struck the equaliser in the second half after the Slovenian champions took the lead in the 42nd minute at the Ljudski vrt Stadium.
There was no change in Group J after Matchday Three as Panathinaikos grabbed an injury time equaliser against Lazio.
At the half-way stage, Lazio top the group on five points, Maribor are second on four, we’re third on three and Panathinaikos are bottom on two.
We have two home matches remaining against Maribor – next up on Thursday, November 8 – and Panathinaikos (December 6), with a trip to Lazio (November 22) in-between.
“In the first half, we weren’t good," reflected Andre. "It was a positive for the lads to come back into the game and produce a second half of such dominance.
“I congratulate Maribor because they gave us a good game, kept two strikers up front and kept threatening.
“The draw keeps the group completely alive and leaves us with two games at home, one away.
“First position is still in our range.
“In the end, it wasn’t what we wanted because we wanted to win, but we take the result and look to do our job at White Hart Lane.”
