Andre on Andros: 'There is no fear in his game'
26 August 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
Andre Villas-Boas was impressed with how Andros Townsend took his chance against Swansea.
Andros opened the scoring in Tbilisi and then set up goals for Paulinho and Roberto Soldado in the 5-0 win in the Europa League play-off, first leg.
He was just as lively against the Swans and involved in the key incident, brought down by Jonjo Shelvey for the match-winning penalty, tucked away by Roberto in the 58th minute.
“We gave Andros the opportunity after the game he had against Dinamo Tbilisi and he repaid us with great movement and quality,” said Andre.
“When he gets into space he’s able to take on the man and there is no fear in his game. I was happy with his performance.”
Roberto’s penalty made it two in two from the spot – in fact, three in three if you count the friendly against Espanyol – as we kicked-off the Premier League campaign with 1-0 wins against Palace and now Swansea.
“He swapped sides this time,” added Andre. “He’s been doing it all his career and nice and cool, slotted it home.”
