Anderton's Sol shock
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Darren Anderton has registered his shock at Sol Campbell’s move Arsenal — but insisted that has been the only disappointment of what has been a positive summer at the Lane.
Of course, Anderton played a major part in that positivity by signing a new, four-year contract.
And he was paramount that Sol’s decision to leave — made before the 29-year-old midfielder had put pen to paper — had no bearing on his future.
“I always wanted to stay,” declared Darren from our training camp in La Manga.
“Sol leaving didn’t help matters, but that’s part and parcel of football, players come and go and you have to accept that. You have to look at who we’ve brought in and who we’ve lost and balance it up.
“I think we’re going places, definitely. It takes time and we’re obviously disappointed about Sol but apart from that, everything is fine.
“Sol is the only disappointment. Les signed a new deal as well, that’s good, Ted’s come back, we’ve bought a couple of good players, so it’s not looking too bad.
“Sol was a big surprise, of course, but at the end of the day he chose not to play for Tottenham, that was the main issue. Who he joined didn’t really matter.
“It’s a shock that he’s joined Arsenal but the big disappointment is that he’s not playing for us, not that he’s playing for Arsenal.”
