Anderlecht 2-1 Spurs - Mauricio's verdict
22 October 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino bemoaned a loss of focus after Thursday night’s defeat in Anderlecht.
We got off to a blistering start to the Europa League Group J contest at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium and opened the scoring four minutes in through Christian Eriksen.
However, after we failed to capitalise on our chances and edge ourselves further in front, Anderlecht got back level when Guillaume Gillet scored following a corner routine, with Stefano Okaka then completing a 2-1 win for the Belgian side in the second half.
Head Coach Mauricio cut a frustrated figure after the game and was left to rue the manner in which Anderlecht took control of the match.
“I’m very disappointed,” he said. “I think that we started the game very well, scored for 1-0 and then created some clear chances to score two or three goals, but you have to look at how the game changed on set pieces.
“On the first chance they scored, after that there was another big chance for them and it was difficult to come back into the game and play like we started the match.
“With the way we lost focus in the game you always pay because it changes the dynamic of the match.

"We need to learn about that. We are very upset about the result and very disappointed but we need to take the positive things, we need to learn to kill the games off and play at 200 per cent every game.
"When you lose your focus you will pay on the pitch.”
