'Amazing performance, amazing result' - Mauricio's reaction to Spurs 4-0 West Brom

Mauricio Pochettino described the performance and 4-0 victory against West Brom as ‘one of the best so far’.
The manager had every reason to wax lyrical after the team dominated against one of the most stubborn opponents in the Premier League in Saturday’s early kick-off at the Lane.
Our recent record against the Baggies is well-documented - the previous three games had finished 1-1 - but the players were on a mission from the first whistle.
Harry Kane had already seen an effort slide just wide and been denied by Ben Foster when he opened the scoring with a whistler into the top corner in the 12th minute - we didn’t look back.

As is tradition when we play West Brom, Foster kept us at bay time and time again - one point-blank stop from Harry left the striker shaking his head - but we were relentless, won the ball back time and time again and kept the visitors pinned in.
The second goal arrived via a deflection from Christian Eriksen’s shot and after going in at half-time with 10 shots to nil in return, the only disappointment was that we weren’t out of reach.
The second half followed a similar pattern - Foster denying us time and again - and we finally wrapped it up in fine style as Harry completed his hat-trick in the week he became a father for the first time.
That made it six wins on the trot - matching our best winning sequence in the Premier League era - with another clean sheet.
No wonder Mauricio was a happy man afterwards!
“I’m very proud,” he said. “The effort of the players was amazing, fantastic and we played wonderful football.
“It was one of our best performances so far and I’ve only good things to say.
“It was difficult to break them down last season and they are a very good, physical team but the way we played it was impossible for them to stop us.
“We pressed a lot and we competed again like we did against Chelsea and Aston Villa. That was great and a good sign we’re improving.
“We’ve learned a lot from last season and we’re more mature, that’s a good thing to show we can compete for the big things in the future.”

What was key?
Mauricio: “We spoke a lot during the week. One thing that was important was to be patient and then our position on the pitch was going to be key to keeping possession and trying to find the space to create chances. Another face of the game was the spirit to try to recover the ball, to press high, to run a lot and that’s how we prepared. The players delivered and I thought it was fantastic how they played, it was an amazing performance and an amazing result.”
Were you worried about Ben Foster making saves left, right and centre again?
Mauricio: “It was 4-0 to us and he was Man of the Match! Okay, Harry Kane was Man of the Match, but it’s unbelievable because the keeper was great again, he made a lot of saves. At the beginning it was a little frustrating. He made a save and I thought ‘again?’ - it was like last season!”
