Alton back at the Lane

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Alton Thelwell hopes to re-acquaint himself with White Hart Lane when our reserves return to action tonight.

It's been a long eight months since his last appearance at the main stadium as a substitute ironically against tonight's reserve team opponents Leicester City back in February.

Alton stormed onto the scene alongside Ledley King almost two years ago.

The versatile defender featured regularly in that season, earning England U21 recognition along the way, but as a groin problem got the better of him, his chances were less frequent last term.

He's now back after almost six months in the treatment room and aiming to run out again at the Lane as we take on the Foxes in the FA Premier Reserve League (7pm).

"It's been a long time," said Alton. "I was injured for so long, it's a nightmare, being in the treatment room when the boys go out to train.

"You just want to be out there with them. It's nice to be training again and hopefully Monday will be another step forward."

Alton has made a couple of reserve outings in recent weeks but felt the problem again against Chelsea a fortnight ago and came off at half-time.

"It was a precaution to come off but I feel fine now and it should a decent game, I'm looking forward to it," he added.

"It's been a bit of a nightmare but hopefully the worst is behind me now."
