All square for under-19s

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Our under-19 side travelled to Wimbledon on Saturday and emerged with a 1-1 draw and a day of particularly difficult conditions.

John Sutton scored our goal on 37 minutes, levelling the scores before playing became even more tricky.

Pat Holland takes up the story...

"They were very competitive, but not over competitive on the day. It was just the conditions, they were unbelieveable.

"The pitch to begin with wasn't too bad, it was quite firm-ish. But the rain and wind was relentless all day, it was incredible really. He could have postponed it, but once we got going you think keep going and get the game done.

"It was a shame because it spoilt what could have been an interesting game.

"We were against the wind in the first half, went one-nil down when the fella hit a 20 yarder which really shot through.

"We then played our best stuff of the game, passed it and eventually got a goal from a set-piece. A corner was flicked on by Paul O'Donoghue and John Sutton got on the end of it.

"That set us up nicely for the second half. But then really we played into their hands a bit and played a lot of long stuff. It was one of those where the conditions dictated everything and it petered out and became very scrappy.

"The boys said after that the ball was getting stuck in their feet and unless you're out there you can't experience it. We were all hiding in the dug-out! My overcoat is going in the cleaners this week - it's absolutely ruined.

"It was soaking. I don't know who was better off - them out there or us watching...

"It was summed up by the fact that there was about five people watching, so the elements won on the day."

It would have been nice to have got the points because Arsenal dropped two points, we're just on their tails in second place and we're playing them on Saturday.

Team: Jalal, Kelly, Herron, Hughes, Henry, O'Donoghue, Barnard, Marney, Sutton, Slabber, Galbraith. Subs: Wettner, Burch, Lee, Thomas, Gardner.

The under-17s home fixture against Wimbledon was postponed.
