All Greek to Luke
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Luke Young is feeling the heat in Greece - and that’s before England Under-21s top-of-the-table European Championship qualifying clash in Athens.
Training ground temperatures have hit 90 degrees since Howard Wilkinson’s young charges landed on Sunday and it will hit fever pitch in a packed Apostolos Nikolaides Stadium, home of Panathinaikos, on Tuesday evening.
Greece top the group with England second with the top two going through to the play-offs for next year’s finals.
Luke, who should win his tenth cap at this level, said: "It’s a massive game for us and it looks like it will be a cracking atmosphere. They are top at the moment so we desperately need a result. A win would be great."
Luke, 22 next month, will be 23 by the time the finals come around in 2002 but he will not miss out on the showpiece event if all goes to plan.
"If you play at the start of the championship you can play in the finals," he revealed. "I’ll be 22 in July and I’ll almost be 23 when the finals come around but I’ll be able to play.
"In fact, there were players almost 24 in last year’s finals, Danny Murphy, Jamie Carragher and Danny Mills."
