It's been all go at the Lodge and the Lane this week as our current playing squad and management team have been joined by the Club's legends taking part in interviews and photoshoots for the Tottenham Hotspur Opus. The first team squad were photographed at Spurs Lodge on Monday while on Tuesday and Wednesday, legendary names from the Club’s past including double-winners Bobby Smith, Cliff Jones, Dave Mackay, Terry Dyson and Peter Baker all returned to the Lane for this special project.
Tottenham Hotspur Opus is part of our 125th anniversary celebrations and will be the biggest and best ever book on the Club.
Produced by Kraken Sport & Media and set to be published in December 2007, Tottenham Hotspur Opus will be 800 pages long, 50cm x 50cm, weigh over 30 kilos and contain approximately 300,000 words and 1,500 photographs. Hand stitched and leather bound, this will be the ultimate book about the Club and only 1,000 will ever be made.
This epic production will cover every era in the Club's history since its formation in 1882 incorporating exclusive interviews with key personalities and special features on the North London derby, White Hart Lane stadium, the evolution of training techniques, the 50 greatest Spurs players ever and, of course, the fans.
One of our all-time greats Bobby Smith – top-scorer in the double season – will be featured and was impressed by the sheer size of the project.
“I was flabbergasted when I saw the plans for the book,” said Bobby, who scored 208 goals in 317 competitive appearances between 1955-64, including the opener in the double-clinching 1961 FA Cup Final.
“I thought it was going to have a lot of pages but be quite a small book, leather-bound, that sort of thing but when I saw what it was about, I couldn’t believe it. I’ve seen the Manchester United Opus and it’s fabulous. For Tottenham to have the same is fantastic. It’s certainly something special to be involved in.”
Proceeds from the Opus will go to the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, an independent charity to oversee the Club’s work in the community.
Further details will be announced shortly regarding sales and how you can order your copy of this special book. Meanwhile you can register your interest on firstname.lastname@example.org
