Pat Jennings believes Paul Robinson will only get better and says it's in his hands to remain England's number one.

The legendary Lane stopper is still out on the training ground at Spurs Lodge at the age of 59 in his role as goalkeeping consultant and has seen Paul improve first hand since his switch from Leeds United.

The 25-year-old has kept 13 clean sheets as we've battled through to the quarter-finals of FA and Carling Cups and now aim to get into the top six of the Barclays Premiership.

<IMG src="/media/images/decorative/photos/dpix/robinsonengland1.jpg" align=left border=1 <P internationals. five last the started now has and September in James David from one number England?s as over took Robbo>He's currently with the England squad for World Cup qualifiers against Northern Ireland on Saturday and Azerbaijan next Wednesday.

"Robbo's done fantastically," said Pat, who won 119 caps for Northern Ireland and played in two World Cups. "You just have to hold your hands up and say that.

"He got his chance with the England side and he grasped it. He's done well in England games and held his reputation intact. That's important, to be steady and don't give goals away. You have to be consistent and that's exactly what he is.

"The future is up to him. "I think he's improved," he added. "It's easy for us to say but I think his all-round game has improved and I think he'll only get better.

"His ball striking is so good, he can hit a ball from one end of the ground to the other.

"But you never think you are the finished article in goalkeeping and he works hard at it."
