Ade targets win at the Brit

25 April 2014|Tottenham Hotspur

Emmanuel Adebayor hasn't changed his tune in the final weeks of the season.

He told us on his return from injury before his double strike against Sunderland that the team was targeting six wins from our final six matches.

Two wins and a draw down the line, he’s now after three wins from our final matches against Stoke, West Ham and Villa - starting at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

“We have three games left and we have to win,” he insisted. “I said that before the last game and I’m saying the same again now.

“We want to finish as well as possible. Don’t get me wrong, we know that during the season we’ve let our fans down because of some of the results. We are trying our best to make that better.

“It will be hard at Stoke. I managed to score there last season, hopefully I will do it again. It won’t be easy, but let’s go out there, play our football and try to win the game.

“If I could take 1-0 now, I would say yes. Let’s just get the win. I don’t know how, when, 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, let’s just win the game and get the three points. That’s all that matters.”

Always renowned for their more direct, physical style, Stoke have won plaudits this term for a change in approach and passing game under Mark Hughes that has reaped rewards in the shape of a run of just two defeats in 12 in the Premier League since February.

“They play better football with Ireland, Nzonzi, they keep the ball well with Charlie Adam in midfield, there is more of a balance,” added Ade.

“Sometimes they play long but they keep the ball on the floor, pass it and move it well. I think we are ready though, we have to believe, get out there and get the three points.”
