Ade on Saints test

20 December 2013|Tottenham Hotspur

Emmanuel Adebayor insists it's all about 'confidence and belief' as we travel to Southampton on Sunday.

We return to Premier League action at St Mary’s after suffering the disappointment of a Capital One Cup exit to West Ham on Wednesday night.

‘Ade’ smashed home for 1-0 but West Ham turned the game around in the last 10 minutes.

Now we face a Saints team that started the season superbly but are currently on a run of five games without a win in the Premier League – although they’ve played Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Newcastle in that spell.

They had won four on the trot at St Mary’s before the recent loss against Villa and go into this weekend in ninth, three points behind us.

“Southampton are a good team, playing good football, they keep the ball well with good technical players,” said Ade.

“We just have to get out there with confidence, with belief and try to take the three points.

“We have to keep going, keep fighting, keep training hard and try to be better.”

Like his team-mates, Ade was left low by the loss against the Hammers. “We wanted to win the game so badly,” he said.

“We played some good football but the last 20 minutes were difficult. We have to keep working hard, put our hearts into it and it will be better.”
