Ade calls the Toon!
Emmanuel Adebayor admitted his relief after getting back amongst the goals against Newcastle - but insisted the bigger picture of contributing to a winning team was more important.
The Togo striker was in unstoppable form in Saturday's fine 5-0 win against the high-flying Magpies at the Lane.
He provided four assists and scored the fifth goal himself in one of our best performances of an impressive campaign in the Premier League.
Harry Redknapp said that Ade 'set the tone' with an electric start to the game that saw him set-up the first two goals inside seven minutes.
We were 4-0 up by half-time before Ade put the icing on the cake with the fifth.
"When you go through four, five, six games without scoring you start questioning yourself what is wrong," reflected Emmanuel.
"I've had some stick from my team-mates - in a good way - but for me it was important to be part of it, to score, to make assists.
"I'm here to help the team win games, that's most important. I've worked hard in training and my team-mates all believe in me and what I can do.
"I’m very happy, very pleased. We took the three points, we showed character, personality.
"We all know how good Newcastle are, two strikers in form in Cisse and Demba and we knew if we wanted to win this game, we had to show character from the start.
"We created chances, took them and that made it easy for us. It wasn’t an easy game but we made it easy."
