Starting with four Under-16 players and seven in the 14-man squad, the lads pushed a strong Hammers outfit all the day and went down to a penalty after 65 minutes.
Alex went into the game without goalkeeper David Button, who turned his ankle on England U19 duty and joined Tomas Pekhart, Troy Archibald-Henville, Matthew Wells, Alex Olsen, Jamie Davis and Terry Dixon on the sidelines.
"West Ham were strong and we were very young again and I was impressed with how our youngsters went about it," reported Alex. "We didn't have a recognised centre-half either so Joe Martin, who has played there before and Jake Livermore lined-up there.
"We ended up conceding a penalty when their player was just clipped in the box but we had our chances.
"Andros Townsend hit the post, Ryan Mason had a one-on-one opportunity saved and we enjoyed a lot of possession. We're trying to have a look at as many Under-16s as possible at this stage of the season and they did well again."
