Academy end of term reports

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Pat Holland's assessment of last season's Academy group continues with five more players under the spotlight.

Our Under-18 squad finished the season on a high with three wins in their final four games and a run to the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.

Coach Pat will continue his end of term reports tomorrow and Friday...

John Kyriacou
Pat Holland: "He’s one of the lads who was a little unlucky. John plays right-back and we’ve had Kieran McKenna there, Chris Riley and Phil Ifil in the FA Youth Cup and that has limited his opportunities. I think there has been a steady improvement in John but next season he faces the same problem where we’ve three right-backs all after the same position. It’s a big season for him."

Charlie Lee
Pat: "He was captain fantastic in the FA Youth Cup where he was tremendous. For me, Charlie has to think about his game and keep a level head. He has ability, no doubt about it. Whether or not he’s a centre-half remains to be seen, it might be that a position switch into midfield will suit him eventually."

Stuart Lewis
Pat: "Stuart just didn't stop running for me. He’s got fantastic energy. We now want to see a slight improvement on the technical side of things which all kids are capable of. He has great, great enthusiasm and you can’t buy that but now we want to see the next stage if he’s to be a top-class player."

Jacques Maghoma
Pat: "I think Jacques has excellent ability - he's two-footed, has a change of pace and very good control of the ball. I wouldn't say it was a wasted season but he didn’t reach the heights I envisaged. That will be one to work on for me and Jacques next season. Out of the group, he has excellent ability and might be the one that creeps through."

Joe Martin
Pat: "Joe was unlucky with injury. Again, he’s a schoolboy with ability and one that full-time training will really benefit. Then we’ll see the best of him. Again, I’m looking forward to him being here because I think he’s got something. I hope it comes out next season."
