AARON UP FOR PFA AWARD

Aaron Lennon is on the shortlist of nominations for the prestigious PFA Young Player of the Year Award.

Aaron Lennon is on the shortlist of nominations for the prestigious PFA Young Player of the Year Award.

The jet-heeled winger - still just 18 - is up against Darren Bent (Charlton), Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal), Anton Ferdinand (West Ham), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) and Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).

Aaron has made a real impact in his first season in the Premiership since joining us from Leeds United last summer.

Head Coach Martin Jol handed Aaron his debut just four games into the season against champions Chelsea and then gave him his first start against European champions Liverpool a week later.

Aaron has gone from strength to strength since. He won his first England Under-21 caps in October and was named man of the match by Sky Sports on his debut against Austria.

He recently scored his first goal for us in the win at Birmingham and has set up goals against Blackburn and Newcastle.

In total, he's already notched up 24 appearances including 16 starts in the Premiership.

Meanwhile, the nominees for the main PFA Award are as follow: Joe Cole (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Thierry Henry (Arsenal), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), John Terry (Chelsea).
