Aaron targets Europa League glory

Thu 13 March 2014, 14:52|Tottenham Hotspur

Aaron Lennon proudly holds a League Cup winners’ medal following our 2008 triumph – and he’s earmarked this season’s Europa League as an opportunity to claim a second piece of silverware.

We embark on the first stage of our two-legged round of 16 tie against Benfica tonight and, while our flying winger knows making further progress in the tournament will be easier said than done, he believes we’re capable of going all the way.

“When you reach this part of the season and we’re still in the competition, we want to win it,” Aaron said.

“With the squad we have, I don’t see why we can’t.

“Benfica will be difficult opposition over the two games but we’ve got some great players and a talented squad.

“The fans are up for it, the lads are up for it...we are looking to win the competition.”

Read more from Aaron, who made his 50th European appearance for us in the last round against FC Dnipro, in tonight’s matchday programme – on sale from various points around the stadium and from the Spurs Megastore.
