Aaron on 250 - I've enjoyed every minute

14 March 2014|Tottenham Hotspur

Aaron Lennon reflected with pride on reaching 250 appearances for us in the Premier League.

The flying winger hit the mark in last weekend’s derby at Stamford Bridge.

In doing so, Aaron became only the fifth player to make 250 appearances for us in the Premier League behind Darren Anderton (299), Jermain Defoe (276), Ledley King (268) and Sol Campbell (255).

“It’s massive, brilliant for me and I’ve enjoyed every moment,” said Aaron, who joined us from Leeds at the age of 18 in July, 2005.

“To play 250 games for Spurs in the Premier League is brilliant.

“I’ve had a few knocks as well, so to get to 250 is a massive achievement.

“My first appearance was as a substitute against Chelsea at home. I remember that as if it was yesterday. It’s flown by. 250? That’s crazy.”

It was the second milestone for the England international following hitting the 50-mark in European competition for us against Dnipro.

He’s second in our all-time list of European appearance-makers behind the great Steve Perryman, who played for us 64 times in Europe.

“That’s a big achievement as well,” said ‘Azza’, who didn’t hesitate when selecting his European highlight.

“I’d say the AC Milan game away in the Champions League (March, 2011), the 1-0 win, that was one of my best games personally but as a team, to beat AC Milan was massive for us,” he said.
