AARON CLOSING IN

Aaron Lennon appears to have made the right impression on Sven Goran Eriksson after his display off the bench against Trinidad & Tobago.

Aaron Lennon appears to have made the right impression on Sven Goran Eriksson after his display off the bench against Trinidad & Tobago.

The lightning winger made his World Cup debut for England in earning his second full cap as he entered the fray alongside Wayne Rooney just before the hour mark with the score at 0-0 and England struggling to break Trinidad & Tobago down in Nuremberg.

The pair helped galvanise the performance with Aaron simply too quick for his full-back, linking up well with skipper David Beckham, who switched to right-back.

He also had a hand in both goals as Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard secured a 2-0 win and a place in the knockout stages in Germany.

Boss Eriksson said: ""Lennon is knocking very hard on the door. He came on and beat people and opened up the door.

"Beckham did very well as a right-back. He put crosses flying in."
