A valuable experience for youngster Nathan

Nathan Oduwa was grateful for the chance to test himself alongside some of our established senior players in Saturday’s Training Centre friendly against Southend United.
The young attacking midfielder set up Josh Onomah and Danny Rose for our first two goals, before getting on the scoresheet himself in the second half as we netted four times without reply in the behind-closed-doors exercise.
While understandably pleased to make such a contribution, the former Luton Town loanee insisted the chance to further his development by linking up with some of our first teamers was the most valuable thing he took from the game.
“I’m glad I got a chance to play with some Premier League stars today,” said Nathan.
“I’ll take the two assists and a goal any day, but really I’m just happy that I got minutes under my belt in a senior environment and that my fitness levels are getting up there.
“We’ve been working hard in pre-season as you can see. We’ve worked on pressing and a lot of the boys’ fitness levels are increasing all the time.
“The match against Southend really helped and it’s a good boost for everyone who played.”
