A fitting Farewell
19 May 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Last Sunday we said goodbye to White Hart Lane in style with a 2-1 victory over Manchester United – meaning we end the season unbeaten at our beloved old ground – followed by an emotional Farewell Ceremony that will live long in the memory.
The response from fans and media alike has been overwhelming. During Sky Sports’ live coverage of the event, commentator Martin Tyler remarked: “The Ceremony was classy, like everything else at Spurs.”
In the following day’s Times, Henry Winter wrote: “It was the sight of Ricky Villa and Mauricio Pochettino strolling around the pitch arm in arm, smiling at the adoring fans that captured the beauty of this day, Tottenham Hotspur’s past and present in complete harmony.”
