Martin Jol will come up against his coach from the tail end of his playing days when Co Adriaanse brings Porto to the Lane on Saturday.
Our Head Coach concluded his playing career at his local club Den Haag with Adriaanse in charge at the Zuiderpark Stadion. So Martin is well placed to offer an assessment on what qualities his fellow Dutchman can bring to the former European Champions, where he was appointed coach in May.
"He was my coach at the end of my career at Den Haag - my home town club - so I know him," explained Martin. "He did very well with AZ Alkmaar last season, he is an ambitious guy and a very good coach.
"He wants to play attacking football and he showed that in the Amsterdam Tournament last weekend. Another thing, Ronald Koeman - the former coach of Ajax - went to Benfica so there are two Dutch coaches over there! There will be a lot of rivalry between them and it will maybe be an exciting thing for Portuguese football.
"Everybody knows in Holland that Adriaanse is an outstanding coach and hopefully he will do well at Porto.
"It is a difficult situation for him, Porto expect to win all the time, but he can work under pressure and will ask for and demand everything of his players. I have no worries on that score, but he will have to deliver the goods. I think he is capable of doing that."
Martin went on to reveal that it is honours even in terms of encounters between their respective teams.
"He was at Willem II, I was with RKC and one time we beat them and the other they beat us. Last year he was with AZ and I was here in England so we didn't meet. I am looking forward to the game, but I only look at my team and we need a good test because it is our last friendly before the league starts.
"It will be an interesting game."
