A dream for Davies
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Simon Davies admits he didn't dare dream of making such an impact when he joined us three years ago.
It is just over three years since Simon and Matthew Etherington joined us from Peterborough United in a combined £1.2million deal.
Simon accounted for £700,000 of that fee - he's now worth over 10 times that.
Capped 12 times by Wales, the midfielder is seen as one of the hottest properties in the Premiership.
Last year he played a key role at the Lane, appearing in 45 games in 2002, while he also scored in three successive internationals for Wales and was named both Spurs and the Welsh Player of the Year.
It's not bad progress after what Simon describes as a 'slow start' to his life in London.
"I was thinking about it the other night, managers, players who have come and gone even in that three years," he reflected at Spurs Lodge. "It's unbelievable and has gone so quickly.
"From a slow start things have gone up and up for me and it's been great.
"I wanted it to go this well but I never dreamed it would. It's gone better if anything."
Typically for a player completely unaffected by his rise to fame, he says luck has played its part and thanked boss Glenn Hoddle for his belief in him.
"It's about taking chances and being lucky I suppose," added the 23-year-old. "Having a manager who plays you and believes in you also helps.
"Even when I haven't played particularly well he's still played me.
"Last season he took me out at the right times and this season has been tough at times but it's all good experience. I couldn't have asked for more."
