'A big, big game' - Toby and Sonny preview United
27 October 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Two players, both recent Club centurions, have very different personal goals within the team ethic as we face Manchester United on Saturday.
Heung-Min Son is one goal away from becoming the highest goalscoring South Korean player in Premier League history and stands level on 19 goals with South Korea and United legend Park Ji-Sung.
Where Sonny's target is to get on the scoresheet at Old Trafford, Toby Alderweireld's target is to keep United off it - not least his Belgian international team-mate Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku has spearheaded United's attack with 11 goals so far in all competitions, including the UEFA Super Cup.
United have won four out of four at home, we've won four out of four away - something has to give as we meet in a 12.30pm showdown.
Here's what Sonny and Toby had to say...

On the influence of Park Ji-Sung, who played at United for seven years, winning four titles and the Champions League and reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2002...
Sonny: "When I was a kid, the most famous Korean player played for Manchester United – Ji-Sung Park. In South Korea, it started with him. A lot of Koreans watched a lot of Manchester United’s games because of him. I enjoyed watching him and it was my dream to play in the Premier League. The Premier League is massive in South Korea and in Asia it’s the biggest league in the world."
On drawing level with Park's 19 goals in the Premier League...
Sonny: "It’s special for me but he’s still, for me, a legend for Asian football. He's my idol. Of course, I play in a different position, so I can score more goals, but that doesn’t mean (in terms of status) I’m catching Park!"
On facing United...
Sonny: "It will be a big game, tight, we’ll play our game and we’ll have a great chance. Last week (against Liverpool) was a big game and now it's another. It's important to get a good result after West Ham but that's in the past for us, just like Huddersfield (a 2-1 loss for United last week) is in the past for them. We just focus on United now."

On facing United...
Toby: "We’re in a good moment, even though unfortunately we lost against West Ham. We have to be confident. It will be difficult. They are at home and will look to attack but they will also be happy to wait for any mistakes from us. I’m expecting a great game at a very high level. We’re confident and we’ll give everything and that’s how we’ll approach it."
On facing his Belgian team-mate Romelu Lukaku...
Toby: "He’s in a very good period. He’s strong, quick and he’s getting better in terms of positioning himself and the technical side of the game. Remember, he's still only young. With Romelu, any mistake from us and it's a goal. We’ll defend him as a team but with United, it’s not just about Romelu, they have a number of very good players. It’s a big, big game."
