A ball at Roots Hall
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Colin Calderwood was delighted with his Spurs XI's splendid performance at Southend United on Tuesday night.
We started with seven players still eligible for our Under-19s and only Oyvind Leonhardsen with Premiership experience against Ron Newman's full-strength Third Division side.
But we dominated for long spells with an expansive passing game, created chances and looked dangerous, defended well when under pressure in a couple of periods and Shwan Jalal was on song in goal when required.
In the end goals from Lee Barnard, Oyvind Leonhardsen, Roham Ricketts and John Sutton secured the 4-1 win but it could have been much more - we hit the woodwork twice as well.
Boss Colin said: "We've ended up coming here with a younger side than we expected but the boys applied them superbly well.
"Shwan Jalal made four or five really important saves which could have changed it but, irrespective of the score, the way we played, the movement, the change of tempo, switching play, our all-round play was very good.
"In other games we've got beat and I've said I've been fairly pleased but this time we've added a nice performance and got a really nice result."
