Our Under-18s were involved in an incredible game against Coventry City in the FA Premier Academy League on Saturday.

Starting the day top and second respectively in Group B of the FAPAL, the teams shared 12 goals as the match finished 6-6!

In a topsy-turvy encounter, we actually led 3-0, Coventry pulled back to 3-2 before half-time, we scored again for 4-2 but then found ourselves 5-4 down, levelled at 5-5 and then went 6-5 down before finally levelling at 6-6 with 10 minutes left.

Coach Alex Inglethorpe gave us the rundown. "We lost Oscar Jansson after just two minutes when he picked up a chest injury in a collision coming out to save at the feet of a Coventry forward. It was a brave save, but he couldn't continue and Mirko Ranieri took over in goal.

"We went 3-0 up without playing that well.

"Ryan Mason (pictured) opened the scoring with a fantastic free-kick from 25 yards, Jon Obika then crossed for Andros Townsend who perhaps should have scored with his initial header but followed in to score the rebound for 2-0.

"Jon Obika then crossed for Ryan Mason to score his second and it was 3-0 after about 35 minutes.

"Coventry scored soon after we made it 3-0 and then made it 3-2 a couple of minutes before half-time so having been in control, it was suddenly 3-2 and a different game.

"We started brightly in the second half and Jon Obika put us 4-2 up after 55 minutes.

"Coventry went straight up the other end and made it 4-3, equalised two minutes later and then went 5-4 up. That was all before the hour mark.

"Ryan Mason completed his hat-trick after good work down the right by Adam Smith after 68 minutes to make it 5-5 but again, Coventry came back to make it 6-5. That was with about 20 minutes left.

"We equalised again to make it 6-6 with 10 minutes to go. Dean Parrett scored after good work from Mason, Obika and Yaser Kasim.

"People have asked me if I've ever been involved in a game like that and I said 'yes, when I was about seven!' It was amazing."

Spurs U18s: Jansson (Ranieri, 2), Smith, Cox, Kasim, Caulker, Butcher, Byrne (Parrett, 46), Bostock, Obika, Mason, Townsend (M'puku, 60). Unused sub: Ekim.
