19s on a roll
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Pat Holland thought twice after suggesting that he should be awarded the 'Manager of the Month' award for his team's recent exploits.
The under-19 coach saw his side stretch their unbeaten run to seven games against Wimbledon on Saturday - a run that includes six wins (five consecutive).
"I did say that until someone pointed out that they usually get the sack a week later!" laughed Pat of the award suggestion.
"The lads are showing good spirit at the moment and keep plugging away. Okay, you say results aren't the most important thing - but it is nice to get up that league table. We are now just two points away from Southampton at the top which is very good."
So, with the lads buzzing, is Pat having to call for calm and keep their feet planted firmly on the ground?
"You have to a little bit. On Friday we had more of a fun session and tried a get away from the coaching side of things. We had more of a game and just enjoyed it - a bit old fashioned really, like when I was a player.
"I just told them not to get away from the fact that you have to keep that workrate going and they applied themselves really well.
"We've got a bit of experience in the side at the moment with four under-19 players in there - which does help."
Of course, such a winning run allows Pat to hold his head up highest when the training ground canteen banter starts to flow on a Monday morning.
"I think everyone in the club gets a kick out of it. The senior people come in and have a bit of a laugh. We're on a run and I think it's good to see the kids being successful, which is the most important thing.
"Confidence comes from winning games and doing well - and players develop from that."
