Lucas Moura exclusive: "Everything is perfect"
31 January 2018|Tottenham Hotspur
Lucas Moura can’t wait to turn the page onto ‘a new chapter in my life’ at Spurs.
The Brazilian attacking midfielder completed his transfer from Paris St Germain today, signing a contract until 2023. He will wear shirt number 27.
Still only 25, Lucas has packed plenty into his short career already, including over 30 senior caps for Brazil and multiple trophies at PSG including four-successive Ligue 1 titles after joining the French club from Sao Paulo in January, 2013. He scored 46 goals and claimed another 50 assists in 229 games for PSG.
Earning his first cap in 2011, Lucas has also won the FIFA Confederations Cup (2013) and an Olympic silver medal (2012) with Brazil.
“I’m so, so happy,” he said. “It’s a new chapter in my life, a new challenge for me.
“I’ve joined a big club with big players and I look forward to playing and helping the team.
“I can play in the Champions League, which is a big objective for me and to make new friends is always a pleasure.
“I will give my best for this Club. I think we have a lot of quality and I think we can win big things.”
It’s fair to say Lucas has been blown away by our training facilities at Hotspur Way and our world-class new stadium that is due to open later this year.
He told us: “It’s amazing, I’ve never seen a training centre like this. The new stadium as well - I’m so excited. Everything is perfect. I’m sure we will do big things together.
“Here, it’s a new challenge and as I said, a new chapter in my life. I will have the opportunity to play, to show my talent and my quality and it’s also a big Club, a big structure, a lot of fans and the history of the Club is also very interesting. It’s a pleasure for me to play for Tottenham.”
Lucas was quickly greeted by a familiar face - his friend and former team-mate at PSG, Serge Aurier, who made the same switch in August.
Lucas added: “Serge said a lot of good things about the Club, about the coach, about the fans. He’s crazy! He’s a very nice guy and an amazing player. I’m so happy to play with him again.”
