Wed 02 May 2018, 17:30|Tottenham Hotspur

This season, the Club’s Brent School Sport Programme has delivered over 1,150 free PE lessons in 15 primary schools reaching over 2,700 children aged 5-11 in and around Wembley.

To celebrate the success of the programme, Victor Wanyama visited Chalkhill Primary School to watch a PE lesson and meet children and teachers from the school.

The Brent School Sport Programme is a 12-week course of primary school PE lessons delivered by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. It aims to improve the health and well-being of children in Brent by keeping them active at lunchtime and after school. Whilst based in the schools, the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation have also delivered special training sessions for teachers to support the quality of school PE, giving teachers the skills and confidence to deliver sports lessons on their own.

The programme is part of the Club’s commitment to the London Borough of Brent during its season playing home matches at Wembley.

Marie Campbell, Head of School at Chalkhill Primary School, said: “The weekly PE lessons have had a positive impact on both students and staff at our school. The quality of the coaching has been fantastic and has helped the pupils become more motivated than ever to play sport. We now have regular PE lessons happening at both lunchtime and after school, helping our pupils to keep fit and active.”

Lucy Peirce, School Sport Development Manager at Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: “We are delighted at the success of the Brent School Sport Programme and the results it has achieved. This is just one example of the many ways in which the Club is actively working with the local community during the Club’s season at Wembley, and we hope that our work will inspire more young people in Brent to play sport.”
