Toby in Europa League Squad of the Season

20 May 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

The accolades keep coming in for Toby Alderweireld after he was today (Friday, May 20) named in the UEFA Europa League Squad of the Season.

Already crowned our One Hotspur Members’ Player of the Season and Supporters’ Clubs’ Player of the Season following a tremendous first campaign in our colours, the 27-year-old has now been recognised for his contributions on the continental stage in 2015-16.

A summer signing from Atletico Madrid, the Belgian international played every minute of our 10 Europa League games at centre-half during the recently-concluded campaign and is one of five defenders named in the 18-man Europa League Squad of the Season, as selected by UEFA’s technical observers.

Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund, who knocked us out of the competition in the round of 16, joins him in the group along with the eventual Europa League-winning Sevilla duo of Adil Rami and Mariano, plus Shakhtar Donetsk’s Darijo Srna.
