Ledley turns focus to grassroots
23 April 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Ahead of July’s International Champions Cup in Melbourne, Ledley King got a taste of how the game is developing at grassroots level in Australia on Saturday morning.
Our former skipper paid a visit to Nunawading City FC alongside Atletico Madrid legend Jose Luis Caminero as the pair continued their promotion of the pre-season tournament, that will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground between July 23-29.
Nunawading are one of the most successful junior football clubs in the state of Victoria, and Ledley got to see their abilities first hand when their U14 side took on their counterparts from Eastern Lions.
The two former international players were able to pass on their advice to the young players, and to make it an even more exciting occasion for everyone at Nunawading, Channel 7’s popular Sunrise breakfast show were broadcasting live from the venue.

When our First Team visit in July, our Global Coaching team will also be delivering coaching clinics across the state in partnership with Football Victoria, helping to further develop the Australian game at grassroots level.
Ledley said: “The game is clearly growing fast in this part of the world and you could see the enthusiasm and ability of the young players today. I’m looking forward to working alongside our Global Coaching team later this year to see more of what the country has to offer at youth level. We’ve already seem some top Australian talent play in the Premier League over the years, and the future looks bright also.”
