Internationals - Belgium/South Korea action

01 June 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen were on duty for Belgium as they drew 1-1 with Finland in Brussels on Wednesday evening (June 1).

The defensive pair completed 90 minutes at right- and left-back respectively in their nation’s latest warm-up game for Euro 2016.

Belgium left it late to salvage a draw, however, with Romelu Lukaku netting an 89th-minute equaliser to prevent them from suffering defeat. Kasper Hämäläinen had given Finland the lead eight minutes after half-time.

Jan got forward and went close with attempts at goal on a handful of occasions in the first half while Toby missed the target a couple of times after the restart. Mousa Dembele did not feature for the Red Devils on the night.

Elsewhere, Heung-Min Son and South Korea endured a miserable day as they crashed to a 6-1 defeat to Spain in a friendly match held in Salzburg, Austria.

Sonny started for his nation but was withdrawn just after the hour mark as sweeping changes were made.

Meanwhile, Filip Lesniak’s Slovakia Under-21s side drew 1-1 with Ukraine Under-20s.
