Harry roars to 24!

19 April 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane summed up our 4-0 win at Stoke in a sentence: “Four goals, a clean sheet – you can’t do much better than that!”

The striker took his tally to 24 for the Premier League season - 27 all competitions - with a double, sharing the goalscoring with Dele Alli in a wonderful away performance.

Harry now holds the record for most goals in a Premier League campaign for the club and hit a typically pinpoint curler to open the scoring in the ninth minute.

We didn’t look back from there. We should really have added to the scoreline before the break but Dele finally converted for 2-0 on 67 minutes. Harry tapped home Erik Lamela’s pass for 3-0 four minutes later before Dele wrapped it up with his 10th goal in a memorable first Premier League season.

“We’re away to Stoke, what a tough game, everyone knows that and to score four goals and keep a clean sheet, as I said, it doesn’t get much better,” reflected Harry at the Britannia.

“We had a couple of chances in the first half to get the second goal, we didn’t manage it and it’s always dangerous, especially away from home because all it takes is one chance and a team can score against you on the sucker punch. Dele got a great finish for the second goal and we stepped up another gear to get the third and fourth.

“It was a top performance from everyone. We knew what we had to do and we put in a great shift.”

Meanwhile, Harry was happy to explain his pre-match posting of a pride of lions on his Instagram account.

“I was watching the Leicester game (against West Ham) and just excited to play, excited to get out there,” he told us. “I put out a few lions hunting because that’s what we seem to be doing at the moment. It was a bit of fun and the fans took it well.

“That’s what we’re here to do, to chase Leicester down and all we can do is keep winning.”
